Authorities foil attempt to sabotage high-voltage power lines in Damascus countryside

Damascus countryside, Dec.5 (SANA) Ministry of Energy announced Monday that security forces thwarted an attempt of attacking high-voltage power lines supplying the southern region in the areas of Ghizlaniyah and Otaybah in Damascus countryside, and the transmission route from Deir Ali power plant to the distribution stations in Kiswah and Adra Industrial City.

“With the support of security forces, several individuals involved in cable theft were arrested while trying to flee. Electricity crews recovered the seized cables and returned them to the central warehouse in accordance with regulations,” Energy Ministry said in a statement.

High-voltage lines form an essential part of the electricity transmission system between generation plants and distribution stations. They are considered vital facilities that directly affect the stability of power supply for citizens and productive sectors.
