Doha, Jan. 1 (SANA) Recordings and documents published by Al Jazeera have revealed movements by political and military leaders who played key roles during the deposed regime. The leaks show their attempts, after the regime’s fall, to reorganize their ranks and plan armed operations against the Syrian government, particularly along the Syrian coast.
The channel reported that the documents and recordings it obtained, detail the funding, organization, and mobilization of groups of deposed regime remnants, as well as plans involving the former commander of the special forces in the criminal regime’s army, Suhail al-Hassan, and several other officers in the coastal region.
Al Jazeera noted that the leaked materials include recordings and calls spanning more than seventy-four hours, including a call between the criminal Suhail al-Hassan, who is in Russia, and a former brigade commander in the regime’s army, criminal Brigadier General Ghiath Dalla, believed to be in Lebanon.
The documents also reveal the role of a third Syrian who managed to hack the officers’ phones by convincing them that he was an Israeli officer overseeing the Syrian file. He communicated with them as a supposed supporter of their movements and coordinated their military plans on the coast.
The recordings, dating from April to December 2025, indicate that the main supporter of “Suhail al-Hassan’s Brigade” is Bashar al-Assad’s cousin, criminal Rami Makhlouf. The leaked recordings show al-Hassan claiming that his group includes a large number of officers and soldiers, and confirming that they received assistance from Makhlouf.
In a recording aired by the channel Wednesday, the phone hacker asked criminal al-Hassan about consultations or support from specific countries for their upcoming coastal operations. Al-Hassan responded that Rami Makhlouf was responsible for coordinating these efforts.
The recordings also show al-Hassan trying to court the person he believed to be an Israeli officer by expressing support for Israel, including its aggression in Gaza.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Interior spokesperson Nour al-Din al-Baba told the channel that the leaked documents and recordings prove that former regime elements are prepared to work with entities hostile to Syria to pursue separatist agendas. He added that the ministry possesses information about the whereabouts, communications, and plans of defunct regime leaders.
Al-Baba further noted: “Former regime elements deliberately carry out attacks during official and religious holidays,” and highlighted that they control extensive economic interests in Syria, accumulated at the expense of the Syrian people.
The recording aired is one of several exclusive materials obtained by Al Jazeera, which plans to release additional recordings in a series of reports exposing the funding, organization, and mobilization of deposed regime remnants, along with the plans of criminal Suhail al-Hassan and other officers in the Syrian coast. Full files and extended recordings will later be broadcasted as part of the program “Al-Mutahari” on Al Jazeera.
