In a statement published on its Telegram channel, the ministry identified the man as Imad Mohammad Abu Zreiq. Preliminary findings from the investigation indicated that he maintained direct links with security agencies during the period of the former regime, which he used as cover to carry out grave violations.

According to the statement, the crimes include the killing of civilians, armed robberies, and the operation of an organized network involved in the trafficking and smuggling of narcotics both inside Syria and across its borders.

The confiscated materials included mortar shells of various calibers, Katyusha rockets, Metis anti-tank missiles, heavy and medium machine guns, assorted ammunition, and wireless communication devices, the statement said.

The Interior Ministry added that the man has been referred to the competent judicial authorities for further legal action.
