Damascus, Dec. 15 (SANA) The 23rd edition of the Buildex exhibition opened Monday at the Damascus Fairgrounds, with the participation of more than 400 local and international companies specializing in construction materials, building and construction works, renewable energy, and construction safety and security systems.
The exhibition is organized by the Arab Group for Exhibitions and Conferences in cooperation with the Ministries of Local Administration and Environment, and Emergency and Disaster Management. Organizers said the event aims to enhance cooperation between local and international institutions and support rebuilding efforts by presenting advanced infrastructure solutions, promoting a culture of construction safety, and opening investment opportunities for both the public and private sectors.
Minister of Local Administration and Environment Mohammad Anjarani said the exhibition represents a strategic opportunity to showcase the latest technologies in the construction sector and reflects the state’s commitment to supporting sustainable urban projects that take environmental standards into account and improve citizens’ quality of life.
Anjarani added that the ministry is working to expand cooperation with national and international companies to develop infrastructure in line with rebuilding plans and to achieve balanced development across all provinces.
“We have begun rehabilitating damaged infrastructure in all sectors, removing debris, ensuring civil safety and protecting property rights, in cooperation with the relevant authorities,” he said in a press statement.
Tourism Minister Mazen al-Salahani said Syria is entering a promising phase that requires strong competition and the presence of global construction companies capable of transferring expertise to implement high-quality projects serving both citizens and tourists.
“We are looking toward a promising tourism future, especially in the coastal provinces, which are considered Syria’s maritime gateway, and we are working to launch new tourism projects that reflect the Syrian vision,” al-Salahani said, noting that Buildex helps introduce global expertise that can contribute to rebuilding Syria.
Damascus Governor Maher Marwan said Buildex 23 strengthens economic presence and provides an important platform for exchanging expertise, calling on companies that did not participate to enter the Syrian market and benefit from investment opportunities in rebuilding, infrastructure and safety systems.
Latakia Governor Mohammad Othman said the exhibition offers an opportunity for the domestic market to learn from the experiences of participating countries, including Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and China, and to review the latest technologies related to infrastructure and construction works.
The three-day exhibition allows visitors and professionals to review innovations in urban development and sustainability, supporting investment opportunities and reflecting Syria’s determination to rebuild and engage with the international community.
The 22nd edition of Buildex was held on May 27, with the participation of hundreds of local and international companies.
