Damascus, Dec. 12 (SANA) Canadian Ambassador to Damascus, Gregory Galligan, renewed his country’s welcome of Syria’s progress in political and economic reform.
In a post on the X platform Friday, Galligan said: “Canada welcomes the progress made toward political and economic reforms, affirms the importance of protecting the rights and well-being of all Syrians, and encourages continuing concrete steps forward.”
He also referred to a phone call between Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand and Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Hassan al Shaibani, regarding ongoing transitional efforts in Syria.
Earlier on Thursday, Minister al Shaibani received a call from Minister Anand to discuss recent developments, bilateral relations, and ways to enhance cooperation.
The Canadian minister also congratulated Minister al Shaibani on Syria’s achievements in the year since the liberation and reaffirmed Canada’s support.
