Ten people were martyred and dozens injured in an Israeli attack on the town of Beit Jinn in the Damascus countryside early Friday, medical sources said.
Damascus Countryside Health Director Dr. Tawfiq Hasaba told SANA that “ten people were martyred and dozens injured as an initial toll due to the Israeli aggression on the town of Beit Jinn in the Damascus countryside.”
He added that the bodies of six people were transferred to al-Mowasat Hospital, while the bodies of four others were buried in the Beit Jinn farm area due to the inability to reach them. Eleven injured were transferred to al-Mowasat, and three were taken to Qatana Hospital in the Damascus countryside, he said.
Earlier, Dr. Kamal al-Kateb, the medical director of al-Mowasat Hospital, told SANA that the hospital “received the bodies of six martyrs, five of them from one family, and ten injured, two of whom are in critical condition, due to Israeli aggression on the town of Beit Jinn in the Damascus countryside.”
The attack took place early in the morning, according to a SANA reporter, who said that Israeli forces targeted Beit Jinn with artillery shelling at 3:40 a.m., while a military force entered the town and arrested three people before withdrawing.
He added that residents confronted the Israeli forces, who opened heavy fire, leading to violent clashes between the force and the locals.
Simultaneously, Israeli aircraft patrolled the town widely, and warplanes released incendiary balloons over the area following the clashes. The town is also witnessing residents fleeing to nearby towns.
