Minister Khattab said: “Today I visited Homs city accompanied by Hassan Soufan, member of the Supreme Committee for Civil Peace. We were received by Governor Abdul Rahman al-Ama and the province’s Internal Security Commander, Brigadier General Murhaf al-Nassan. We inspected the site of the heinous crime that took place in the Zydal area, claiming the lives of a man and his wife, alongside a specialized team from the Criminal Investigation Department. We closely reviewed the investigation results and highly value the role of security leadership and the awareness of Homs residents in calming the situation and extinguishing strife.”

“We then headed to Tartous Governorate, where we met Governor Ahmad al-Shami along with the province’s Internal Security Commander, Colonel Abdulal Abdulal. We discussed the general situation in light of the recent protests and commended the good conduct of security personnel in dealing with demonstrators. We emphasized the importance of maintaining calm and stability under the current circumstances.” He added.

We listened to various demands and concerns raised by the protesters, with the aim of addressing them through the relevant institutions.”

“We reaffirm that the Ministry of Interior are keen on preserving security while safeguarding freedom of expression, within the framework of law and the constitution. This ensures the protection of institutional authority, away from violations, incitement, and chaos.” He concluded.
