Damascus, Riyadh explore joint efforts to develop public sector performance

Syrian Minister of Administrative Development Mohammad Hassan al-Sakaf held talks on Wednesday with Saudi Ambassador to Damascus Faisal bin Saud al-Majfal on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and exchange expertise in the field of public administration development.

During the meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters in Damascus, both sides stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in training, capacity building, institutional performance development and improving the quality of public services.

Al-Sakaf reviewed the opportunities available for Syria to benefit from Saudi Arabia’s experience in modernizing public administration and developing the public sector, describing the Saudi model as an effective example, especially as administrative modernization has become a key pillar of the Kingdom’s national transformation program under Vision 2030.

He noted that upgrading government performance and institutional efficiency is among the ministry’s priorities during the current phase, in line with Syria’s broader efforts in state rebuilding and administrative reform.

For his part, Ambassador al-Majfal reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s strong interest in supporting Syria during the reconstruction and recovery phase, reflecting what he described as the deep-rooted fraternal ties and shared interests between the two countries. He expressed the Kingdom’s preparedness to provide support across various fields.
