Internal Security Arrests Militia Leader involved in Protest Suppression

The Internal Security in Aleppo governorate has arrested Ali Qarqanawi, known as “Abu al-Fida,” a criminal involved in the violent suppression of peaceful protests during his time as an officer under the deposed regime, and later as a leader within the affiliated “National Defense” militia.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Interior posted on its Telegram channel Saturday, investigative teams conducted intensive surveillance operations that led to locating Qarqanawi in the al-Halk neighborhood of Aleppo.

Acting on a warrant issued by the Public Prosecution, the Anti-Terrorism Branch raided his location and arrested him.

The ministry confirmed that the detainee has been referred to the competent authorities to complete investigations, in preparation for his presentation before the judiciary.
