The “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) attacked a Syrian security checkpoint near the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood late Monday a security source in Aleppo city told SANA

“One Security member was martyred and three members of the Internal Security Forces were wounded after SDF troops targeted security checkpoints around the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo city,” the source added.

Several civilians were also wounded in the strikes and were taken to Al-Razi Hospital, suffering injuries from mortar fire and heavy machine gun attacks targeting residential areas in Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh, according to SANA reporter.

SDF snipers have been deployed on rooftops in both neighborhoods, creating an ongoing threat to residents and security personnel, SANA reporter from Aleppo city witnessed.

Earlier on Sunday the Defense Ministry said that the army’s recent movements in northern and northeastern Syria are part of a planned redeployment, not the start of new military operations.

The ministry stressed that Syrian government remains committed to the March 10 Agreement and has no plans to launch offensive actions, adding that the army’s current mission is to protect civilians and security forces from continued SDF assaults.
