Qatar Welcomes Syrian Government’s Ceasefire Announcement in Sweida

Doha, SANA- The State of Qatar welcomed Tuesday the Ceasefire in Sweida announced by Syrian Government and stressed its support for all measures it takes to maintain security and stability.

“The State of Qatar welcomes the announcement by the government of the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic of a ceasefire in the city of Sweida in the south of the country, and considers it an important step towards enhancing security, stability, and civil peace” Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

The Ministry added that ‘’Syria’s security and stability are inseparable from that of the broader region. This calls for intensified regional and international efforts to support the Syrian government’s pursuit of national reconciliation, civilian protection, and the establishment of a state grounded in institutions and the rule of law’’.

The statement expressed “Qatar’s full support for all measures taken by the Syrian government to uphold security and stability” reiterating its steadfast support for Syria’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, along with the aspirations of the Syrian people for a life of dignity.
