France welcomes ceasefire in Sweida and calls for strict commitment

France welcomes ceasefire in Sweida and calls for strict commitment

Paris, SANA -France welcomed Monday the ceasefire in Sweida Province and called on all parties to commit to it.

“France welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire in Sweida Province. It urges all parties to observe it strictly and refrain from any unilateral action” the French foreign ministry said in a statement.

 The statement added, “violence must end immediately; the safety of civilians must be guaranteed and humanitarian access routes should be restored to ensure the supply of essential services”

“We call on the Syrian authorities and Sweida Province’s leaders to resume dialogue in order to reach a lasting agreement that will help strengthen Syria’s unity, stability and sovereignty” the statement added

The statement called on the Syrian authorities to “guarantee the safety and rights of all Components of the Syrian population” Stressing the “importance of commitment to investigate the unacceptable Violations committed against civilians, identifying perpetrators and rapidly brought to justice”.

The Foreign Ministry reiterated that France will continue its efforts to support stability in Syria.
