In a statement to SANA, Patriarch Aphrem II affirmed that the committee had shared its vision during the meeting to ensure the success of the electoral process during this transitional period.

Patriarch Aphrem II expressed his hope that the parliament’s members would be chosen based on competence, experience, and ability to serve the nation, regardless of religious, sectarian, or ethnic affiliations.

He stressed the importance of this electoral milestone for Syria’s future and affirmed the church’s readiness to provide necessary support for this national path.

The Citizen’s Voice Is the Essence of the Legislative Process

For his part, the committee’s Public Communication Officer, Hassan al-Dagheem, stated that following extensive meetings with popular, social, and institutional delegations in the Parliament, the committee saw the necessity of expanding discussions to include national and religious figures due to their role in building bridges of trust and affirming the values of participation.

Al-Dagheem said that these meetings aim to clarify the electoral process and its timeline, and to benefit from the insights of community leaders, thereby enhancing the credibility and representation of the upcoming Parliament. He reiterated that the citizen’s voice is at the heart of the legislative process.

He noted that the committee had visited the Grand Mufti of the Republic yesterday and was continuing its meetings today with a number of Christian authorities, affirming the principle that the Parliament is a platform for all Syrians.

Al-Dagheem pointed out that every visit the committee undertakes strengthens the unity of the national fabric, so that the upcoming Parliament truly reflects the will of the Syrian people and relies on active participation from all societal components.
