Syria, Egypt discuss cooperation in training and qualification

Geneva, SANA-  Fawaz al-Ahmad, Head of the Syrian General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU) has discussed with Abdel Moneim al-Gamal, Head of the Egyptian Trade Union Federation (ETUF) ways to develop cooperation in training and qualification, and to unify Arab trade union efforts to confront common challenges.

That came during a meeting held on the sidelines of the 113th session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland.

Al-Ahmad expressed his gratitude to Egypt, both leadership and people, for hosting Syrians during the years of the revolution.

He emphasized that Egypt’s support reflects the deep brotherhood between the two peoples, the authenticity of the Egyptian people, and the deeply rooted historical ties between the two countries.

For his part, al-Gamal highlighted the strength of the relationship between Syria and Egypt, affirming that Syria’s stability is an integral part of Egyptian national security. He stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the labor federations in both countries.

During the meeting, both sides agreed on the need to prepare a trade union cooperation protocol. This protocol will reflect the strength of their historical relationship and contribute to the development of trade union work at bilateral, Arab, and international levels.

The conference, in which Syria is participating, began on the second of this month at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva and will continue until the thirteenth.
