President of Jordan’s Chamber of Commerce: ready to work and contribute to building Syria’s new economy

Amman, SANA- President of Jordan’s Chamber of Commerce, Khalil al-Haj Toufiq, reaffirmed his country’s strong commitment to Syria’s swift reintegration into the Arab fold and participation in the prosperity awaiting it in various sectors.

According to Petra, the Jordanian News Agency, al-Haj Toufiq stated Sunday: “There is a strong desire within Jordan’s commercial sector to establish a new framework of cooperation and coordination with counterparts in Syria, contributing to the new phase the country has entered and taking advantage of available opportunities in various economic fields through genuine partnerships with the Syrian side.”

He added: “We want a rapid return of our sister nation, Syria, to the Arab fold so it can partake in the prosperity ahead in different sectors.” He also noted that a Jordanian trade delegation will embark on a three-day working visit to Damascus starting tomorrow.

During the visit, the delegation will hold intensive meetings with Syrian government economic officials, the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, business owners, companies, and trade organizations. Discussions will focus on the future of economic relations between the two countries, aiming to enhance commercial and service cooperation and serve mutual interests.

Al-Haj Toufiq emphasized that Jordan’s private sector is eager to play an active role in supporting Syria’s economic reconstruction efforts, particularly in banking services and digital transformation. He stressed the necessity of removing obstacles to trade flow, strengthening transit trade, and increasing the exchange of economic visits and joint exhibitions.
