Phone call between President Al-Sharaa and al -Sudani: Syria and Iraq maintain strong b

Damascus, SANA President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmad al-Sharaa, received a phone call from Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia’ al Sudani, with both sides discussing bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them in various fields , and affirming popular and and economic ties that gather Syria and Iraq.

The two sides also stressed the importance of opening a new chapter in bilateral relations, based on joint cooperation to confront regional challenges and prevent tension in the region.

During the phon call, al-Sudani congratulated President al-Sharaa on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, wishing him and the Syrian people permanent security, stability, and progress.

Iraq also welcomed the formation of the new Syrian government, affirming its firm stance in supporting Syria’s security and sovereignty.

Talks between the two sides dealt with border security and cooperation in combating drug smuggling, emphasizing the need to enhance security coordination to prevent any dangers that could pose threat to the stability of the two countries.

For his part, President Al-Sharaa stressed his commitment to developing bilateral relations, and his respect for Iraq’s sovereignty and kenness on non-interference in its domestic affairs.

Iraq reiterated its support for Syria, noting the importance of strengthening relations to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples and achieve security and stability in the region.
