Syria welcomes Qatar's initiative to supply electricity throughout the country

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Ministry expressed its profound appreciation for the State of Qatar’s initiative to begin supplying electricity to Syria via Jordan.

“This initiative represents a crucial step toward meeting urgent energy needs and alleviating the suffering faced by the Syrian people”, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on its Telegram channel on Saturday.

The Ministry extended its sincere thanks and appreciation to all entities participating in this critical program, including the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) , Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) , in recognition of their efforts and commitment to supporting the people of Syria.

In addition, the Ministry pointed out that the initiative aims to provide 400 megawatts of electricity daily at the Deir Ali power station near Damascus, with plans to gradually increase production and will be distributed to Syrian cities.
