Turkish Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya announced Monday that over half a million Syrian refugees have voluntarily returned to their homeland since December 8.
In a post on the Turkish platform “In Sosyal,” Yerlikaya stated that 509,387 Syrians have voluntarily returned to their homeland since last December 8, Anadolu Agency reported.
He reaffirmed his country’s support for Syrians’ voluntary return saying: “Just as in the past, Turkey today stands by its Syrian brothers in their path of voluntary return.”
Yerlikaya explained that the total number of Syrians who have returned from Turkey to Syria since 2016 has now reached 1,249,390.
