Syria, Turkey Discuss Prospects for Boosting Joint Cooperation

Ankara, SANA-Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed al-Saleh and his accompanying delegation discussed with Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya prospects for enhancing joint cooperation between the Ministry and the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) to build an effective and advanced regional response system.

Deputy Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Dr. Hossam Hallak told SANA that the discussions between the two sides focused on the necessity of exchanging technical and technological expertise in disaster management and on developing joint training programs to improve the competence of personnel in both countries.

Hallak pointed out that both sides underlined during the meeting held today at the Turkish ,Ministry of Interior headquarters in Ankara, the importance of supporting technical cooperation to develop Syria’s National Earthquake Early Warning Center, connect it with regional systems, and establish joint operations rooms capable of effectively and rapidly responding to cross-border disasters.

He expressed his deep gratitude to the Turkish side and looked forward to translating these discussions into tangible, actionable steps that contribute to saving lives and enhancing preparedness in both countries.
