Republic Karate Championship concludes with over 500 participants

Republic Karate Championship concludes with over 500 participants

Damascus, SANA-The Republic Championship for Karate Clubs and Sports Centers concluded Tuesday at Al-Jalaa Sports Hall in Damascus. Over 500 male and female athletes participated in the competition, across the U12, U14, and U16 age categories.

In the individual male Kata events, Issa Hamisha won gold in the U12 category. The team Kata gold went to al-Walid Ahmad, Zain al-Abidin Fahsa, and Mohammad al-Jamal.

For individual male Kata in the U16 category, Ghaith Abdel Hamid secured first place. In the team male Kata for the same category, Ibrahim Mahous, Kaliar Khalou, and Abdel Baqi Berri emerged victorious.

The results for individual Kumite (fighting) were as follows:
•Hood Salloum won at 28 kg.
•Khalid al-Hamawi at 31 kg.
•Hamza Suleiman at 35 kg.
•Taha al-Kurdi at 39 kg.
•Abdullah Hammoud at 40 kg.
•Mohammad Yazan al-Najjar at 45 kg.
•Taim Jammoul at 52 kg.
•Abdel Hadi al-Bunni at 75 kg.
•Mayar Barghouth at 50 kg.
•Abdel Rahim Darwish at 55 kg.
•Issa al-Karnazi won at 60 kg.
•Mayar al-Zarba won in the over 60 kg category.
•Mohammad al-Nashar won at 63 kg.
•Mohammad Khorma at 70 kg.
•Nart Janbay in the over 70 kg category.

At the end of the championship, the champions were crowned in a celebratory atmosphere, amidst a large audience consisting of the players’ families, coaches, and fans of the sport, who engaged enthusiastically with the strong performances of the young athletes.
