Johannesburg, Aug. 19 (SANA) Syrian powerlifting team member Mergan Haji won four medals at the 2026 World Sub-Junior and Junior Powerlifting Championships in South Africa.
Competing in the junior women’s 57-kilogram category, Haji won gold in the squat and deadlift, silver in the bench press, and gold in the overall standings.
Syria is also represented by Mohamed Safwamar in the over-120-kilogram category.
The championships are being held in Sun City, South Africa, from Aug. 18 to Aug. 29, 2026.
