Miami, June 22 (SANA) Cape Verde and Uruguay played out a 2–2 draw on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami in their second Group H match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Kevin Pena put Cape Verde ahead in the 21st minute before Maximiliano Araújo equalized for Uruguay in the 44th minute. Agustin Canobbio then gave Uruguay a 2–1 lead in first-half stoppage time (45+6).
Cape Verde responded after the break, with Helio Varela scoring the equalizer in the 61st minute to secure a share of the points.
The result leaves Cape Verde, making their World Cup debut, unbeaten after two matches following a 0–0 draw with Spain. Uruguay also remain on two points after drawing 1–1 with Saudi Arabia in their opener.
Spain leads Group H with four points, with Uruguay second on goal difference ahead of Cape Verde in third.
