Europe, Jan. 21 (SANA) Real Madrid delivered a stunning offensive performance against Monaco, running out 6-1 winners in Tuesday’s Champions League clash at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Kylian Mbappé starred for the hosts with two goals, while Franco Mastantuono and Thilo Kehrer both contributed, the latter with an own goal. Vinícius Júnior and Jude Bellingham also found the net, completing the rout in the 5th, 26th, 51st, 55th, 63rd, and 80th minutes.
The victory takes Real Madrid to 15 points in second place, boosting their chances of direct qualification to the Round of 16. Monaco, meanwhile, remain on nine points, languishing in 20th place.
In Italy, Arsenal continued their dominant run in the competition with a 3-1 win over Inter Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring in the 10th minute and doubled his tally in the 31st, before Víctor Cuoqueres sealed the victory in the 84th. Inter’s lone goal came from Petar Susic in the 18th minute.
The win keeps Arsenal unbeaten in the group stage, with seven wins from seven matches and 21 points at the top of the table. Inter Milan, in contrast, remain on 12 points, dropping to ninth.
Elsewhere, Paris Saint-Germain suffered a 2-1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon in Portugal. Luis Suárez scored twice for the home side in the 74th and 90th minutes, while Paris’ only reply came from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the 78th.
Sporting Lisbon climbs to sixth place with 13 points, while PSG remain fifth with the same points tally.
