Rabat, Jan. 17 (SANA) Nigeria’s national football team secured third place at the Africa Cup of Nations currently being held in Morocco, defeating Egypt 4–2 in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw in today’s playoff for third and fourth place.
Led by coach Eric Chelle, Nigeria earned the bronze medal, extending their record with a ninth third-place finish in the tournament’s history. Egypt, led by coach Hossam Hassan, finished fourth.
The tournament will conclude Sunday with the final match, featuring host nation Morocco against Senegal.
