Brussels, Sept. 3 (SANA) The European Union has a clear focus on supporting Syria’s recovery and reconstruction, Henrike Trautmann, Director for the Middle East, North Africa and Gulf at the EU, said on Wednesday.
In a post on X following her meeting with Foreign and Expatriates Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani in Damascus, Trautmann said: “An inspiring discussion on strengthening Syria-EU relations and building meaningful cooperation across economic sectors leveraging investment. We have a clear focus on supporting Syria’s recovery and reconstruction.”
Al-Shaibani met with Trautmann and a high-level EU delegation in Damascus on Wednesday to discuss strengthening economic, trade and investment cooperation and expanding partnerships across various fields in support of Syria’s recovery and reconstruction efforts.
The meeting also addressed opportunities to develop broader cooperation between Syria and the European Union, particularly in economic and investment sectors.
