Washington, Aug. 25 (SANA) The Syrian American Council on Tuesday welcomed the United States’ formal decision to remove Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, describing it as a historic step.
The council said in a post on X that the decision “reflects a new reality in Syria and removes one of the most significant remaining legal and financial obstacles to the country’s recovery and reintegration into the international community and global economy.”
“Today, another chapter in the legacy of the Assad regime is closed, inaugurating greater opportunities for investment, economic recovery and international engagement, while targeted sanctions and accountability measures remain in place against terrorists, perpetrators of violations and entities threatening Syria’s security and stability,” the council added.
The council underscored the importance of the decision and expressed hope for a free, stable and prosperous Syria that regains its rightful place in the international community.
