Istanbul, March 27 (SANA) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the international order established after World War II is facing a deep legitimacy crisis amid rapid global shifts and mounting challenges, calling for enhanced cooperation to address them.
In a video message delivered on Friday to the International Strategic Communication Summit (STRATCOM 2026) in Istanbul, Erdogan said that the institutions and rules underpinning the international system are “gradually losing their effectiveness,” according to Anadolu Agency.
“We are going through a turbulent period in which competition for influence has expanded into fields such as energy, technology, and trade,” Erdogan said, adding that conflicts are increasingly being addressed through the use of force rather than dialogue, while the pace of wars, crises, and what he described as genocide continues to escalate.
He stressed that ending ongoing tragedies, particularly in Gaza, and restoring peace, stability, and calm worldwide, especially in the region, has become more urgent than ever.
Erdogan underlined the need to strengthen communication and cooperation mechanisms to counter false and misleading narratives aimed at distorting facts. He called on states, governments, and international actors, including academics, civil society organizations, and think tanks, to take greater initiative and play a more active role.
The Turkish president reaffirmed Ankara’s commitment to a principled and firm stance in support of peace, based on human values and justice, and said Turkey will continue mobilizing all its capabilities to promote security and stability both regionally and globally.
The International Strategic Communication Summit (STRATCOM 2026) opened on Friday in Istanbul, with the participation of Syria, represented by Minister of Information Hamza al-Mustafa, alongside officials and experts in media and strategic communication from 36 countries.
