Paris, Feb. 5 (SANA) French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot is scheduled to visit Damascus on Thursday, marking his second trip to the country since the fall of the defunct regime, a French Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday.
During the visit, Barrot will hold talks with Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad al-Shaibani to discuss cooperation and issues of mutual interest, before continuing a regional tour that includes Iraq and Lebanon, according to spokesperson Pascal Confavreux.
The visit follows recent meetings between Syrian and French officials. Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani met his French counterpart in Paris on Jan. 6, when the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest and ways to strengthen strategic partnerships between the two countries.
