Moscow, Jan. 29 (SANA) The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russia and Syria share common interests and have significant potential for cooperation, following talks between the two countries’ presidents in Moscow.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said discussions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa focused on trade and economic relations and ways to further develop them. He added that the potential for cooperation between the two countries is very broad, and both sides are interested in this cooperation.
Peskov said the issue of Russian military bases in Syria was also on the agenda during the talks, according to Russia’s Sputnik news agency.
Presidents Putin and al-Sharaa met in Moscow on Wednesday, where they emphasized the depth of Russian-Syrian relations and their development across various fields. They also stressed the importance of continuing bilateral coordination and cooperation and supporting efforts to restore Syria’s unity and territorial integrity.
