Ankara, Jan. 21 (SANA) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday welcomed the ceasefire following a new agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The Syrian Presidency announced Tuesday that a mutual understanding had been reached on several issues concerning the future of Hasakah Province. Later, the Defense Ministry announced a four-day ceasefire across all operational fronts of the Syrian Arab Army.
Speaking at a meeting of the Justice and Development Party parliamentary bloc, Erdoğan said, “We are pleased with the ceasefire agreement reached yesterday, and we hope this issue will be resolved permanently without further bloodshed,” according to Anadolu Agency.
He added that integrating the SDF into Syrian state institutions could usher in a new phase of stability while reaffirming Turkey’s support for Syria’s territorial integrity.
