Brussels, Jan.19 (SANA) The European Union has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces, as well as the group’s integration into state institutions.
In a statement on Monday, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas described the agreement as a vital step to prevent Syria from sliding back into chaos and to strengthen the country’s institutions.
She called for an immediate halt to all military activities and stressed the importance of protecting civilians and Kurdish rights.
Kallas also said the EU supports the unification of Syria’s military, security and civilian bodies and warned that continued efforts are needed to prevent any return of the Islamic State group.
