Ankara, Jan. 19 (SANA) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed Monday the significance of the full integration of the SDF into Syrian state institutions, describing it as essential for ensuring enduring peace and stability across the region.

Speaking after chairing a cabinet meeting in Ankara, Erdogan said, “We believe that a united Syria with full sovereignty is indispensable for the prosperity of our entire region. Syria belongs to the Syrian people of all its communities,” according to Anadolu Agency.

He reiterated that Türkiye remains steadfast in supporting Syria against terrorism and will not abandon the Syrian people. Erdogan stated, “As a neighboring country, loyal to the Syrian people in their difficult days, we will not allow any attempt aimed at destabilizing it.” He further noted that the era of terrorism in the region has ended and highlighted the need to enforce ceasefire measures and fully integrate the SDF into Syrian state institutions.

President Erdogan also affirmed that Türkiye would continue to resist any interference that could plunge the region into uncertainty, “through a foreign policy centered on peace and stability,” Anadolu Agency reported.

The statement follows a phone call on Sunday between President Ahmad Al-Sharaa and Erdogan, during which the two leaders discussed the latest regional developments.
