Mecca, Dec. 14 (SANA) The Muslim World League (MWL) condemned on Sunday the terrorist attack that targeted a joint Syrian–U.S. military patrol near the city of Palmyra, resulting in casualties and injuries.
The League’s General Secretariat said in a statement on X, that Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, denounced this cowardly attack, reaffirming the League’s firm stance against violence and terrorism in all its forms, regardless of the pretext.
Al-Issa extended his condolences to the families of the victims and the injured, expressing full solidarity with the Syrian Arab Republic in addressing any threat to its security and stability.
On Saturday, Syrian and U.S. forces came under fire from a gunman near Palmyra while conducting a joint patrol. The attack resulted in the deaths of two U.S. soldiers and a civilian interpreter, and injured three U.S. soldiers and two Syrian security personnel.
