Damascus, Dec.13 (SANA)Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Saturday that recent developments in Syria marked a significant turning point, emphasizing that Turkey stands with the Syrian people and shares their aspirations for freedom and stability.
Speaking at the East Forum in Istanbul, Fidan noted that the events of December 8 last year opened the door to a new phase in Syria.
He explained that Turkey has worked with regional and international partners to support a path aimed at building an independent, fully sovereign, and terrorism-free Syria, adding that this objective has shaped the political and diplomatic efforts of recent months.
Fidan stressed that regional cooperation has played a key role in Syria’s reintegration into the international community, with joint initiatives by neighboring states helping to create a new political climate that supports stability and Syria’s return to diplomatic platforms.
He added that sustainable solutions to the region’s crises must originate from within, underscoring the importance of coordination between regional countries and major international actors.
