Turkish FM: Preserving Syria’s stability is a shared global responsibility

Doha, Dec. 6 (SANA) — Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan affirmed that international cooperation aimed at ensuring Syria’s unity and stability remains a priority for Ankara, stressing the need to intensify joint efforts to restore stability to the country after years of crisis.

Speaking at the Doha Forum 2025, Fidan underscored that Turkey views international cooperation as an urgent necessity, recalling Ankara’s open-door policy toward refugees, which he described as a humanitarian duty despite its domestic political cost.

He added that Turkey continues to pursue diplomatic engagement and mediation efforts to reduce suffering across the region, noting that his country has consistently called for coordinated international action to preserve Syria’s territorial integrity and stability, while also advocating for ceasefire initiatives in both Ukraine and Gaza.

On the Palestinian issue, Fidan highlighted the extensive humanitarian and diplomatic efforts underway to halt the war in Gaza and advance the peace plan. He reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to implementing mechanisms that ensure effective coordination and move the agreement forward, while maintaining close dialogue with international partners.

The Doha Forum—first launched in 2001—serves as a global platform for dialogue, bringing together leaders and policymakers to address major international challenges and build innovative, action-oriented networks.
