Justice Minister Mazhar al-Wais met with Amnesty International’s Secretary General Agnès Callamard and her accompanying delegation to explore ways of enhancing joint cooperation in the areas of human rights and law.
During the meeting, Minister al-Wais stressed that strengthening stability in Syria requires transitional justice and the support of international organizations to document violations and provide redress. He affirmed the Syrian government’s commitment to standing by the victims and working to achieve justice for them.
The talks come as part of the Ministry of Justice’s efforts to develop relations with various international institutions concerned with human rights, in order to advance the path of transitional justice and reinforce the rule of law.
