President Ahmad al-Sharaa received a high-level delegation from Germany on Thursday in Damascus, led by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul. Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani also attended the meeting.
During their discussions, the two sides reviewed Syria-Germany relations, focusing on ways to strengthen cooperation in political, economic, and humanitarian fields. They also exchanged views on recent regional and international developments of mutual interest.
Both sides underscored the importance of diplomatic dialogue and direct communication to support regional stability and enhance opportunities for mutual cooperation, ultimately serving the interests of both nations.
Before heading to Damascus, the German Minister reaffirmed his country’s determination to continue supporting Syria and its people to enable them to shape their future.
He added in a statement released by the Regional German Information Centre that Berlin sought to support Syria on various levels, including humanitarian aid, support for the removal of mines and ammunition, the rapid expansion of the German embassy in Damascus, and investments German companies wish to make in Syria.
