Erdogan Stresses the Need to Support the Syrian Government to Achieve Lasting Stability

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed that “achieving lasting stability in Syria will only be possible through supporting its government.”

Speaking at a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Ankara, Erdogan emphasized the need to prevent both internal and external actors from dragging Syria into further instability.

On developments in the Gaza Strip, Erdogan said the two leaders discussed the latest situation there, underlining the importance of ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid. He noted that Turkey and the United Kingdom are taking joint steps in this regard.

Erdogan also called on the international community to shoulder its responsibility in upholding the ceasefire in Gaza, preventing Israeli violations, and restraining the Israeli government.

The Turkish president commended the British prime minister’s decision to recognize the State of Palestine, describing it as “a courageous step toward realizing the two-state solution.”
