Riyadh, SANA – Minister of Agriculture Amjad Badr discussed on Sunday with his Saudi counterpart Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli in Riyadh ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
Agriculture, food security, and water management were the most prominent issues focused on by the two ministers during the meeting.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of transferring Saudi expertise to Syria to support its efforts to develop agricultural production, especially in light of the challenges left over from years of war.
Minister Badr affirmed the importance of Saudi support over the past years, noting the need to benefit from Saudi Arabia’s successful agricultural experience to overcome obstacles.
For his part, Minister Al-Fadhli emphasized the importance of gradually developing the Syrian agricultural sector in line with living conditions, calling for support for the private sector and granting it suitable opportunities to launch investment projects.
At the end of the meeting, the two ministers agreed to form a joint working team to develop a clear operative plan that supports Saudi investments in the Syrian agricultural sector and opens new avenues for strategic cooperation between the two countries.
