Damascus, SANA- During an official meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in Damascus, Minister of Local Administration and Environment Mohammad Anjrani discussed with representatives of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) ways to support the return of Syrian refugees and enhance the capabilities of local administrations, in light of the increasing challenges resulting from the high rate of return to the country.

Minister Anjarani stressed the importance of continuing to implement the strategy to rehabilitate affected cities and areas, and building the capacity of local institutions to ensure the stability of returnees and enhance their resilience.
For their part, IOM representatives affirmed their commitment to supporting the Syrian government in its efforts to alleviate the suffering of citizens and enhance the local response.
The two parties agreed on the importance of adopting a comprehensive approach that takes into account the basic needs of returnees, including security, public services, livelihoods, documenting property, and ensuring access to rights, which contributes to consolidating social stability and promoting sustainable development in the affected areas.
This meeting comes within the framework of the government’s orientation towards strengthening effective international partnerships and reflects the state’s keenness to provide a safe and stable environment for those returning to their homeland, and also confirms Syria’s commitment to the national recovery path according to a comprehensive development vision.
