Germany continues Humanitarian Support for Syria

Berlin, SANA – Germany stressed Tuesday it will continue providing humanitarian support to Syria as Berlin has allocated more than € 80 million since the beginning of this year to UN organizations operating inside Syria.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Annika Claesen-Idriss explained in a post published on the X platform on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day that the need for aid remains great in Syria, praising the efforts of humanitarian workers who provide daily support in crisis areas around the world.

Idriss explained that Germany provided approximately 220 million euros in humanitarian aid to Syria in 2024, while current allocations were directed specifically to the United Nations and non-governmental organizations to provide food, shelter, and healthcare to Syrians in need.

The spokesperson stressed that the humanitarian commitment remains a priority in German foreign policy, emphasizing that her country, despite global challenges, remains among the largest humanitarian donors in the world.

Germany is one of Europe’s leading donor countries, and is committed to directing its aid to providing food, healthcare, and shelter for those affected.

This support comes within the framework of Berlin’s commitment to a humanitarian foreign policy that strengthens responses to global crises and supports regional stability.
