Hasakah, March 10 (SANA) A prisoner exchange took place Tuesday evening in Hasakah province between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), under the supervision of the presidential team tasked with implementing the January 29 agreement between the two sides.
According to the Hasakah Media Directorate on its Telegram channel, the operation included the release of 100 detainees from prisons run by the Syrian state, while 100 detainees were simultaneously released from SDF-run prisons in Hasakah.
The detainees released by the SDF were received upon arrival at Panorama Roundabout in the city of Hasakah by members of the presidential team and Internal Security Forces, as part of arrangements to ensure their safe return and the orderly completion of the process.
On February 21, the Presidency’s Media Directorate announced the appointment of Brig. Gen. Ziad al-Ayesh as a presidential envoy to oversee implementation of the January 29 agreement with the SDF and advance integration efforts.
The Syrian government had announced on January 29 a comprehensive agreement with the SDF that included a ceasefire and a phased process to integrate military and administrative structures, along with the entry of security forces into the centers of Hasakah and Qamishli and the transfer of all civil institutions, government facilities and border crossings to state administration.
