Daily mistakes during heatwaves can lead to serious health complications

Berlin , June 13 (SANA) Health experts are warning that daily mistakes during severe summer heatwaves can lead to serious health complications, including circulatory collapse and heatstroke.

According to a report by German media outlets DW and Stern, extreme heat causes significant fluid loss, which can trigger dizziness, fatigue, and irregular heartbeats, making daily preventive measures essential.

To mitigate these risks, doctors recommend consuming at least 1.5 to 2 liters of water daily, significantly increasing intake during extreme heat, particularly for the elderly.

Experts advise avoiding carbonated drinks and instead eating light, water-rich foods like watermelon, cucumbers, and tomatoes to replenish lost fluids and minerals.

Furthermore, individuals are urged to avoid direct sunlight, seek well-ventilated areas, and wear loose, light-colored clothing. Strenuous physical activities should be postponed to cooler evening hours, and the body must be cooled periodically.

Experts also highlighted the importance of monitoring for heatstroke symptoms, such as severe fatigue, headache, and nausea, which require immediate cooling and hydration.

Finally, they warned that high temperatures can affect certain medications, urging the public to store drugs properly and consult healthcare professionals regarding summer dosages.
