Athens, June 7 (SANA) Two earthquakes measuring around magnitude 5 struck the Greek island of Evia on Sunday, according to the Athens Institute of Geodynamics, with no immediate reports of injuries.
The tremors hit the island, located northeast of Athens, and were felt across parts of central Greece, including the capital, despite being centered about 130 kilometers away.
Local media reported minor rockfalls in some areas following the earthquakes, but authorities did not announce significant damage.
Emergency services and local authorities continued to monitor the situation as assessments of affected areas remained underway.
Greece lies in one of Europe’s most seismically active regions and frequently experiences earthquakes of varying intensity.
