London, Jan.14 (SANA) A 47-year-old British woman has regained her eyesight after losing her vision to a rare medical condition known as ocular hypotony, following an experimental treatment at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

According to Britain’s The Sun newspaper, the patient received regular injections of a clear, colorless substance called hydroxypropyl methylcellulose directly into the eye. The injections were administered once every two weeks over the course of a year.

The treatment gradually restored normal eye pressure and improved the structural stability of the eye, leading to a progressive recovery of vision.

The patient described the results of the pioneering procedure as “phenomenal,” saying the improvement enabled her to return to essential daily activities after losing her sight.

This low-cost therapy represents a promising development for rare cases in which the eye’s structure collapses due to extremely low pressure. The approach offers a potential alternative to complex surgical procedures, allowing vision to be restored gradually through minimally invasive treatment.
