Aden, Oct. 21 (SANA) The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms documented 109 crimes and violations by Houthi militias in Taiz province over 48 hours, including attacks that killed eight people and injured 26, the Yemeni News Agency SABA reported Wednesday.
The group also recorded 147 projectiles fired indiscriminately, most targeting residential areas, and two ballistic missiles directed at the Saina neighborhood in central Taiz.
The reported violations included shelling and sniper fire, abductions, enforced disappearances, raids on homes, attacks on ambulances and medical teams, attacks on places of worship and road closures.
Deaths, injuries and property damage
The group said eight people were killed, including three women and three children, while 26 others, including seven women and four children, were injured. It also reported that 24 people had been abducted and taken to unknown locations and that about 23 homes had been raided.
Seventeen homes were partially or completely damaged by shelling, according to the network.
The report also cited an attack on an ambulance in the Sabir area, where an artillery shell struck the vehicle, causing casualties. It did not specify the number of people affected in that incident.
Attacks and road closures
The 147 projectiles included mortar shells, Katyusha rockets and artillery rounds, as well as drone attacks, the group said. Two ballistic missiles also targeted the Saina neighborhood in central Taiz.
The network said attacks were concentrated in al-Shaqab, al-Masrah and al-Aqroudh, as well as areas in northwestern and eastern Taiz and other densely populated neighborhoods in the city and surrounding countryside.
It also reported attacks on several mosques, which it said were turned into militia positions, and the destruction of a culvert on the Heijat al-Abd route. The main road linking Taiz to Lahj province and onward to Aden in southern Yemen was also cut off, according to the report.
Calls for international action
The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms called on the United Nations and the international community to condemn the reported violations and take urgent steps to protect civilians, lift the siege on Taiz and reopen roads.
It also urged authorities to ensure safe and regular access for humanitarian aid, including food, water, fuel and medicine, and called for Taiz to be declared a disaster area and for humanitarian assistance to be expanded.
Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Abdullah al-Saadi, warned on Tuesday of worsening humanitarian conditions linked to Houthi attacks on civilians and state institutions, particularly in Taiz, Marib and Aden. He called for urgent international action.
