Aden, Oct. 1 (SANA) Saudi aid agency KSrelief distributed food assistance to nearly 82,000 people across Yemen in September, including families displaced by recent fighting, Yemen’s Saba news agency reported on Thursday.
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center delivered 11,334 food baskets between Sept. 10 and 24 under the second phase of an emergency food assistance project.
Of those, 5,798 baskets reached 43,195 people from 5,798 families in 23 displacement camps across Aden, Abyan, Taiz and Lahj provinces. The families had been displaced by recent fighting along the western coast in Al Hudaydah and Taiz, Saba said.
Another 5,536 baskets benefited 38,752 displaced people and members of vulnerable families in six districts of Hadramout Province: Mukalla, Ash Shihr, Ar Raydah wa Qusay’ir, Ad Dis Ash Sharqiyah, Brom Mayfa’a and Ghayl Ba Wazir.
Yemeni officials said the deliveries helped meet urgent food needs among displaced and vulnerable households.
KSrelief previously distributed 700 food baskets to vulnerable families in Ghayl Ba Wazir on July 26.
The latest assistance comes amid renewed fighting between Yemeni armed forces and the Houthis on several fronts, including Taiz, Al Jawf and Marib, which has triggered further civilian displacement.
