New York, Sept. 27 (SANA) Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan announced Sunday that the Kingdom will provide $6 million in financial support to fund capacity-building and operational programs at the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNCCT).
The announcement came during a bilateral meeting between Prince Faisal and UN Secretary-General António Guterres on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
According to a statement released by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs on X, the funding will be disbursed over a four-year period starting in fiscal year 2027. The grant underscores Riyadh’s commitment to maintaining a dedicated UN platform capable of delivering targeted technical assistance and institutional training to member states combating terrorism.
The ministry highlighted that the contribution aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader foreign policy imperative to counter extremism and organized crime in all manifestations, regardless of perpetrators or motivations. The multi-year pledge also aims to strengthen operational ties with the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and standardize global security frameworks.
Saudi Arabia provided $110 million in seed funding to establish the UNCCT and recently contributed $300,000 to implement the Arab Strategy for Counter-Terrorism.
