Riyadh, Sept. 23 (SANA) Google has marked Saudi National Day over the years with special Doodles celebrating the Kingdom’s history and culture, as Saudi Arabia marks its 96th National Day with celebrations across the country.
In 2019, Google displayed a Doodle featuring the Saudi flag, while earlier editions highlighted a historic Saudi stamp and traditional clothing.
National Day commemorates the unification of the Kingdom under King Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud and the adoption of the name Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Sept. 23, 1932.
Culture and community
International schools in Jeddah are marking the occasion with traditional music and dance, food, art and cultural activities. At the American International School of Jeddah, students representing 68 nationalities are taking part in celebrations.
In Historic Jeddah, 6,000 Saudis and expatriates joined a National Day run, while streets and public spaces elsewhere across the Kingdom were decorated in green.
Riyadh turns green
In Riyadh, landmarks and building facades were illuminated in green, with decorative lighting along major roads, including King Fahd Road.
More than 65,000 Saudi flags were displayed across the Riyadh region, according to the Saudi Press Agency, including more than 12,000 in the capital and over 53,000 in other cities and governorates.
The Riyadh Region Municipality designated 156 celebration sites through 47 affiliated municipalities, featuring heritage and cultural performances, children’s activities and interactive experiences.
