Beirut, Aug. 15 (SANA) Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Saturday condemned continued Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon, particularly Nabatieh and surrounding areas, saying repeated violations of the framework agreement threaten the negotiation process and U.S. efforts to implement it.
The Lebanese presidency said in a post on X that Aoun also condemned Israel’s repeated violations of the framework agreement, the work of the military coordination group and international rules protecting civilians, which it said resulted in the killing of an entire family from the town of Ansar.
Aoun said the violations send a clear message to the negotiation process and to U.S. efforts aimed at implementing the agreement.
Seven people were killed and three others injured earlier Saturday when an Israeli airstrike hit a house on the outskirts of Ansar in Nabatieh district, destroying it completely.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry separately said two people were killed and nine others injured in an Israeli strike on the southern Lebanese town of Deir al-Zahrani.
Lebanon and Israel concluded a framework agreement on June 26 that primarily provides for the disarmament of armed groups, a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from areas they entered in southern Lebanon, and the deployment of the Lebanese army beginning in two pilot areas.
